Celebrating a Legacy
We celebrate the honor of perpetuating a 70-year family tradition of
outstanding hospitality.
Those who write to thank us for our efforts in contributing to
their wonderful vacation validate the commitment that we have made in continuing this
legacy. For many of our guests, it is a family tradition for them to return to the Chalet
as a fourth or fifth generation Club member.
To all of our patrons, we thank you for allowing us the privilege of serving
you.
Please enjoy these excerpts from a few thank-you notes from our most valued
critics - our former guests - as well as some travel guide reviews.

Chalet Guests

"I have thought frequently of you since our amazing weekend. Wow! Thank
you so much! You were so gracious and hospitable. What a great piece of heaven you
have! It was perfect for our family reunion. Seeing my family together and seeing my
father in an inner tube at the age of 70 are just a few of the great memories. I loved our
cabin and the view out the windows on the mountains. I hope to return
we all do. We
all send our warmest regards and profound gratitude!"

"Some people are born into hospitality and some are born to be hospitable.
You, it appears are born to be both, and exceptionally good at it...."

"We want to thank you for a spectacular week at The Chalet Club. Of course
it was great for us, but the best thing of all is that our 3-year-old twins are still
talking about it. Theyve each said they "want to come back so Captain Bob can
teach me how to ski". No kidding
theyve really said it! We received our
ski certificates and will save them proudly! You have a very, very special place at The
Chalet Club, and we feel privileged to have been a part of it this year."

"You know that expression, "you can never go back" or
"things never stay the same"? Well I think youve debunked them both.
Returning to the Chalet after 34 years! was as warm and wonderful an experience as
I remembered if from my youth. You all have done a wonderful job in preserving a treasure.
As far as the rest of the family, well, they loved The Chalet it was a super hit
and theyre begging for a return visit. "

"Just a note to attempt to thank each and everyone of you all for helping
to make our reunion so remarkable! There are many fond memories I will carry in my heart
for the time we spent at your lovely place"

"Thank you one and all for making our visit there such a special one. We,
as well as our friends, had a wonderful, memorable time. Our departing breakfast on the
terrace, looking out on Chimney Rock, was absolutely perfect. What an impression it has
made in our minds!"

"I wanted to write to tell each of you how very much we enjoyed our time
at The Chalet Club. It truly is a special place, and you could not have done more to make
us feel welcome and comfortable. Please extend our thanks, also, to your wonderful staff.
The food was delicious (too delicious, in fact). We took wonderful memories with us
when we left Lake Lure"

"Thank you for making our fifth anniversary spectacular. Never before have
we hiked, water skied and gone horseback riding all in one day. The food was superb. Your
staff are all so friendly. Truly this was an experience that made us feel at home. We will
definitely be back."

"Thank you for making our honeymoon so special & memorable.... The
hike was beautiful, the boat ride was relaxing and the hospitality amazing."

"Absolutely the most wonderful, relaxing vacation I've ever had!! Thank
you so much for your wonderful and gracious hospitality. You truly run the most wonderful
resort we've ever been to."

Our State, October 2002 The
Chalet Club by Mary Beth Kerr Burns
" For more than 60 years, this Lake Lure retreat has
perfected the art of turning visitors into family.......While the outdoor fun that's
available here holds great appeal, the people make this getaway especially meaningful. The
Washburn Family has perfected the art of making guests feel comfortable."

"Unique in concept, the Chalet Club has proven to be a perfect
getaway in the mountains of Western North Carolina for more than 64 years"

"Twenty-five miles southeast of Asheville, the
Chalet Club at Lake Lure offers guests all kinds of reasons for getting lively. Just
outside the club's main lodge is the trailhead for the club's seven-mile network of hiking
trails. The club's boathouse and dock are a five minute van ride from the lodge."
